With the change of the season, it’s officially time to really get into knee-high boots. But finding the best wide calf knee-high boots, especially if you need an extra-wide calf, is easier said than done. Not every “wide calf” is actually that wide, nor are all of them good.
I have 19-inch calves myself, so it’s not exactly easy to find a quality pair of knee-high boots that actually fits. When I do find a good pair, though, I wear them constantly. My favorite way to style knee-high boots is with a midi skirt, stunning sweater, and leather jacket. If you follow me across social, you’ve probably seen countless variations of that outfit.
So, I’ve rounded up some of the best wide and extra-wide calf knee-high boots I’ve found, including leather and suede options ranging from everyday riding boots to something a little sexier for a night out. Most of the boots below come in both wide and extra-wide calf sizing, but everything included on this list is available in an extra-wide calf option.

My Favorite Extra-Wide Calf Knee-High Boots: Dolce Vita Emmi
I am utterly in love with these shoes. The Dolce Vita Emmi Extra Wide Calf boots were the first pair of knee-high boots I found that actually fit me.
The leather is really soft and buttery, but still durable enough for footwear. The heel is also very stable and reinforced well. There’s far more attention to detail here than I’ve seen in heels at similar price points. I don’t have wide feet, so I can’t speak to how they’d fit someone who does, but I do feel like they run pretty true to size. The opening circumference comes in at 21 inches, which gives me a comfortable amount of room with my 19-inch calves. I’m 5’2”, and they come right up to my knee, so they’ve also been a nice option without being too overwhelming on my frame.
I have to say, these were my favorite purchase of 2025 and easily one of my most-worn items. While I no longer see the Emmi on the Dolce Vita site specifically, they are still available through several other retailers, and the Alima seems to be the contemporary option that is maybe just renamed? Either way, I highly recommend Dolce Vita because I’ve been impressed with the quality and durability of mine.
Best Wide-Calf Leather Knee-High Boots
Babes, we’ve hit the jackpot because there are some incredible leather options here.
Starting with a pair I’m purchasing myself and am genuinely so excited about: the Sangeti from Vince Camuto. It comes in a few colorways, though I’m partial to the maroon pair (4). There’s also a stunning navy (3) and a textured patent leather (2) option. The patent pair almost feels a little ’60s retro. Very cool!
Vince Camuto also has the Pavla (7), which is almost a riding-style boot. There’s something structured about them that makes them feel quite elevated. They also have a very, very low heel that could make them especially wearable.
If you want to stay in the versatile and wearable lane, I think the Phoenix from Naturalizer (1) is a great choice. It’s a hybrid western and riding boot style with a pretty chunky heel that could be great for everyday wear. These could also be a nice option for a more casual office. If you prefer a true riding style, the Oslo (8) is so cool. It’s even got a little horsebit detail that is just too good!
Moving to Dolce Vita, I love the Gyra (5) for an evening out or a moment when you want to feel a little more sophisticated. They also have the Glory H2O (6), which is very Charli xcx coded.
Best Wide-Calf Suede Knee-High Boots
Some of the options here come in both leather and suede, which gives you a little more flexibility.
I love the Kinzy boots from Dolce Vita (1) because of their very pointed toe and high but still manageable 3.3-inch heel. They look incredibly slick and cool. These also come in black leather, which I will be purchasing.
The Kenlea boots from Vince Camuto (5) have this really rich toffee color. It’s a lovely cooler-toned brown option. They’re almost western-inspired but not too over the top with it, and I think they’d look incredible with a slip skirt and a cashmere sweater.
Vince Camuto also has the Meezo (2) in this really rich, warm merlot. It features a cute gold accent that makes it a nice option for a night out on the town.
Rounding out my picks from Vince Camuto is the Sangeti (4), a chunky square-heeled style that comes in a warm chocolate brown suede as well as several leather options. The heel looks pretty manageable, and combined with the square toe, it gives a bit of a ’90s feel. Very reminiscent of something a character on Sabrina the Teenage Witch might wear.
Moving to Naturalizer, there’s the 27 EDIT Lexa (6), which comes in a warmer brown suede and looks majorly high-end. I’ve found that Naturalizer is great in terms of comfort. They make some of the most practical heels I own, and the arch support is always really great, so these have to be one of my overall comfort picks, especially if you find yourself doing a lot of walking.
I also wanted to provide a black suede option, so I have to mention the Sylvia from Sam Edelman (3). They have good reviews and seem to fit true to size, but I don’t personally have familiarity with this style or know anyone who owns this particular pair, so keep that in mind.
How to Measure for Wide-Calf Knee-High Boots
Wide-calf boots require some special attention to detail, so get into the specifics of those size charts and do the math on things like calf circumference.
I think sometimes “wide calf” isn’t always so giving in the inches department, if you catch my drift. Pull out a tape measure and measure around the widest part of your calf, then cross-compare that number with the actual calf circumference listed for each pair.
And remember that wide calf and wide width are not the same thing. Wide calf refers to the circumference of the boot shaft around your leg, while wide width generally refers to the width of the shoe itself. I have wider calves but not wide feet, for example, so I specifically look for extra-wide calf boots that still come in a standard shoe width.
If you’re petite like me, I’d also pay attention to shaft height. At 5’2”, I’ve found that a boot can technically fit my calf perfectly and still be too tall for my leg. Measurements are your friend here.
