Summer has arrived, and I’m here to look good, wear a ton of sunscreen, and—more than likely—do it all with a spritz in hand. I’m quite favor a Aperol or Hugo (yes, incredibly basic), but I’ve also grown fond of Lyre’s Non-Alcoholic Italian Spritz. But this isn’t about my lush pursuits, though. It’s about the summer fashions currently moving me.
This year, I’m focusing on working with what’s already in my closet. I’m not trying to buy a whole new wardrobe (except maybe a few white T-shirts because I’ve worn mine to death). Instead, I’m playing with new ways to style my existing pieces. In summer, I lean into a 1940s Old Hollywood vibe—or if it’s a casual day, it’s band tees and slip skirts. This season, I’m spinning that into something a little more Italian summer, maybe adding new accessories or small details to refresh things. Just playing around. Anyway, here’s what’s making the cut for my summer style edit:

Caviar Dreams
Like Robin Leach, I too have champagne wishes and caviar dreams. And while I do enjoy a Kaluga Huso Hybrid caviar in real life, in fashion, I’m just into a cute print. I’ve seen a surprising amount of caviar-printed pieces lately—and unfortunately, I’m deeply susceptible to the charm. Lisa Says Gah is doing some playful takes with illustrations that feel very '90s (in a good way). Rachel Antonoff is doing something a bit more elevated—pieces that could transition into colder months with the right layering.

Il Dolce Gotico
La dolce vita, but make it goth. At heart, I’m a romantic, so naturally I’m drawn to the silhouettes of an Italian summer: flared skirts, fitted tops, headscarves tied like Sophia Loren. Except, for me, it’s mostly in black or dark tones—maybe a black-and-white polka dot if I’m feeling bold. I’ll be styling it up and down, from a crochet sweater on an afternoon stroll to a heeled sandal for nights out. Something for all the morbid vixens.

The Perfect Little Heel
I’m a freak for a heeled sandal. There, I said it. A 2.5- to 3-inch heel is the sweet spot. I love an ankle strap, maybe a mule for support, but mostly I just want a cunty little shoe that makes my ankle look hot. I know how that sounds.

Stripped & Stripped
There’s something about stripes in summer—they just hit different. I love them retro (think 1940s starlet or 1980s gym babe, never rockabilly) or coastal. I recently picked up a lightweight cashmere striped top from J.Crew that is red and navy but passes for red and black—very Debbie Harry or Sunset Strip. It’s been in heavy rotation. I’m also loving a striped cotton short-sleeve from Vixen by Micheline Pitt that’s just thick enough to feel luxe without being suffocating.

Erotic Catholic Guilt
Yes, I’m impacted by the new Pope. Catholic imagery has always been sexy—Like a Prayer, that scene on The L Word, etc. This summer I’m channeling that erotically charged guilt. Heavy gold crosses, deeper maroons, more head coverings. Maybe less "1940s fun in the sun" and more "mysterious medieval martyr, longing for absolution." Consider it my holy girl summer.

Camp Gingham
Gingham is everywhere and I’m not mad about it. It’s sweet, casual, and a little polished—which makes it ideal for a summer afternoon. Not quite formalwear, but perfect for a day of browsing, lounging, or pretending to read in public. I’ve seen it work on everything from bloomers to midi skirts to cropped camis.

Lucite Dreams and Acrylic Schemes
Lately, I’m all about plastic and lucite jewelry, particularly the big, chunky stuff: bangles, statement necklaces, anything that looks like it came from a vintage toy chest in the best way. Last year, I picked up a vintage necklace with a massive lucite orb and circle pendant—it’s surprisingly heavy and slightly absurd, which is exactly the point. The shop owner in Palm Springs was a menace (locals call him “Bitchell,” which tells you everything), but the piece was worth the emotional damage.
