As a lifelong Chicagoan, I am heartbroken and outraged by the Trump administration's ongoing ICE raids across our city. What is happening in our neighborhoods is not just an immigration enforcement operation—it is a militarized assault on our communities that has left families shattered and neighbors traumatized.
I believe that immigrants are what make America great. I believe that everyone deserves the right to live in peace and build a better life for themselves and their loved ones. I believe that children should be able to attend school without fear of their families being torn apart. I believe in the right to gather and protest peacefully, and I believe in the right of journalists to report on what our government is doing without interference or intimidation.
Below are resources and organizations that need our support as they work to protect our neighbors and uphold these fundamental rights. If you are not from Chicago, but looking to learn more about what’s happening, I recommend checking out local journalists at Bloc Club Chicago.
